To bring high-quality Asian haircare products to a worldwide audience, bicoastal master colorist Stuart Gavert and stylist Cody Kusakabe have created a website, beautyexotica.com or "B.E.", which will debut in late February.

"Over the years, Cody and I have brought back interesting products from our teaching trips in Jpan to test them in the salon and see how they work," explains Gavert, who opened Gavert Atelier hair salon last year with Kusakabe in Beverly Hills. "Many were good, but some were absolutely incredible! That began our search for superior haircare products that are unequaled here in the U.S."

Gavert and Kusakabe believe that their expertise as hairdressers gives them an advantage over conventional beauty distributors since they have firsthand knowledge of haircare. "We’ve tested and seen a wide range of products and know what makes hair look and feel great," states Kusakabe, who is the Director of Styling at Gavert Atelier. "We’re offering products that are tried and true."

Products they will retail on the website include:

Crede Shampoo and Treatment, which repairs highly damaged hair and makes it smooth and shiny like glass. The shampoo activates the treatment, so the two must be used together. This product is unparalleled and highly recommended.

Kome Nuka Bijin Shampoo and Conditioner, which contains rice bran and avocado oil. The shampoo and conditioner cure dry, damaged hair, leaving it soft, silky and manageable.

Meros Enrich Conditioner, a cure for dry, frizzy hair, and perfect for permed or bleached hair. It moisturizes each strand of hair, leaving it bouncy and glistening.

Magic Move, a styling product that works extremely well with hot irons. It renders a "piecey" natural look.

Other products include newly available charcoal conditioners, which absorb impurities and soften hair without taking away body.

In addition to featuring haircare products, Gavert and Kusakabe plan to include a number of skincare items, including Kome Nuka Bijin Skin Cleanser, which contains rice bran, a longstanding Asian secret for skin rejuvenation. The cleanser gently exfoliates dead skin and leaves skin feeling smooth and silky. We’re seeking skincare products from as far away as the jungles of Indonesia and adapting them for an international audience!" says Gavert.
