MAC RETRO MATTE LIPSTICKS:
MATTE IS BACK WITH SIX NEW SHADES
Reported by Maria
It was groundbreaking, and the product that really put MAC on the map: completely matte lipstick in rich, glamorous colours. Hollywood starlets, music video divas and the reigning catwalk supermodels of the mid-‘80’s refused to leave home without it. The original MAC matte lipsticks were on everyone’s lips. The formula was super-matte, incredibly long-wearing and there was nothing else like it!
The lipstick was created because there simply wasn’t a truly matte lipstick on the market – they all had at least a hint of shimmer or shine. Makeup artists were clamoring for a formula that didn’t have a trace of shine – just rich, intense colour without a reflective finish.
Over time, the famous MAC matte lipstick developed a cult following. But, as makeup and fashion trends shifted to a more moist lipstick finish, MAC lipsticks became more creamy.
Regardless of the trends, makeup artists and customers alike still clamored for the original matte formula, no matter how fashion fluctuates between shimmer, shine, gloss or cream. Now, six new matte shades, four inspired by the classics, two that are completely new, will be available in October. The shades capture the perfect, glamorous look of the old MAC matte, but with a smoother, more moist texture.
